guide to driving and camping in Hungary

Danube River at Esztergom

Hungary

Hungary is famous for its thermal spas. Under vaulted domes the famous and the infamous alike have shed their clothes to soak in the spring fed thermal water. Hungarians have a highly developed sense of hilarity and so a musical event can encompass Cossack acrobatics, Viennese waltzes, Gypsy folklore, Yiddish melodies or a military band. Concerts are plentiful and reasonably priced. At the morning market, sweet peppers are piled astounding high. Luscious peaches, fragrant plums, and spicy sausages are hard to pass up. Campers come for a relaxing, unpretentious good time in comfortable and homey campgrounds. Many have enclosed cooking areas, nice children’s playgrounds, and swimming pools. Highways are well paved and signposting is good.
